This one’s for my heart sleeved fools…

sleeve2

Open books we may be – talking constantly about our problems, our happinesses, our feels and what is causing them – but chances are it’s because we used to be the ones who didn’t talk it out.

We were once the ones who held it all inside and watched everything fell apart around us – and nobody knew why. We became numb to registering any emotion – not because we wanted to, but because we HAD to, to stay functioning day to day without our sadness taking over.

Nowadays, to feel anything at all, even the not so pleasant things, is a miracle we never want to go away. We took a long, hard road to learn the skill it takes to be open and honest about, and with, our selves – and we’ll be fucked if we ever back track down that road again.

Our honesty and ability to lay down exactly how we feel makes many squirm, some envious and most annoyed. But it is our gift and our curse – and is born from the ashes of a life where we were never spoken for.

It is not our responsibility to dull our shine so that others may sparkle around us. There is a cosmos of sky around us all, and enough room for all our stars to shine – our spaces do not need to shrink to allow others to grow.

I know I cry a lot, I laugh far too much and at inappropriate times, and my temper will shoot daggers at you through my eyeballs in a red hot second…but….my hugs are deep and warm, my “I love you”s mean what they say, my forgiveness is fast and real and my generosity is never token.

For all my heart sleeved brothers and sisters I say – Let those tears fall where they may, let your laugh be loud and FULL of snorts, let your temper show those around you what you stand for – let your love and care be outreaching, even if it isn’t returned every time.

You will have lived an honest life, and one where no one will ever be under any illusions how you feel – which can be the most painful source of heartbreak. Your connection to your soul and heart will be the water that nourishes the seeds in the souls of others around you, I promise.

Open books we may be, but our stories will be well worth the read by the end of the last page… shine on you sparkly bastards – shine on!

A thousand words..

they say a picture speaks a thousand words don’t they? which in this case is a good thing, because I am not sure I have the words to describe or explain where I have been the past few months and where I am heading in the future. So instead, I will use these (extemely unglamourous) pics to tell my story.

the snap shot (obviously) is that we have had an unsuccessful round of IVF. The drawn out version would involve words like heartbreak, turmoil, breakdown and uncertainty. Yucky words that invoke even yuckier feelings..for me anyways.

The process itself wasn’t as harrowing as I thought it was going to be – namely the needles (was injecting myself like a pro by the end of it). The meds did make me slightly nauseas and tired but I think the emotion of it all probably played a role in that also. Retrieving the eggs was easy peasy because I got one of those delicious anaesthetics that sends you off to a deep, heavy, relaxing sleep – which needless to say had been lacking in my night time routine for the previous few weeks. The egg transfer was a little more upsetting – apparantly it should be able to be done without any knocking out required at all – but my cervix (being the arsehole that it is) didnt want to play the game, so after a painful attempt it was off to sleepy time again for me (not complaining about that at all tho!).

So that’s what happened with that. That’s it. (There is obviously more to the story – but I am not ready to get into that yet, so instead just know that I am thankful for every single person who has put up with my fucking hectic behaviours and wallowing self pity this year – I promise Positivity Pants Sara is on her way back…sooner rather than later hopefully!)

Love and light y’all

In a perfect world (i.e. a lot less hips and butt!) I would put these amazeballs flares on and get ready for a night of whiskey, Led Zep and dancing around a fire.

Aren’t they such perfect pieces to go with layering up the “Cherokee” and “Fly” pieces from my Etsy store?

These awesome clay succulent pots (sayyes.com) are DEF on my to-do list.

I love the look of this pot hanger (designsponge.com)- now I just have to get my dad/husband to hand over the drill/saw!

A summery citrus scrub (deliciouslyorganized.com) could be another great Christmas gift idea.

I can’t even explain how much I love this floral chandelier (designsponge.com) – obviously it would be very involved but so worth it – how beautiful!

Stylin’ Up – “Trixie”

Do you guys have funny “rules” when it comes to putting together an outfit? I don’t think I realised how many I have until I started working on this post – and deciding how I would style some of my jewellery pieces from SproutandBeanDesigns. I guess that is the definition of personal style isn’t it? The little rules we make for ourselves to keep us in our comfort zones – the perceptions we have of what is attractive and stylish and aesthetically pleasing, which may/probably will change over time but are essentially ingrained in us.

I have always loved jewellery, especially the boho/ethnic style (the effects of having hippie parents!) – clothing for me is fairly simple and I use jewellery and accessories to add the drama and interest. My friends would laugh at me whenever we would go away/out for a night as I would HAVE to lug my gigantic plastic tub full of jewellery and odds and ends juuuuuust incase. But to me – a simple black dress with a gorgeous multi coloured woven statement necklace and a quality natural leather bag works just as well as all the sequined, tasselled, patterned, shiny ensembles in the world. But hey, that’s just me 🙂

Here is an example of how I might style up the “Trixie” earrings from my shop – with the earrings being so attention grabbing I would steer away from a big, bold necklace – and keep it fairly natural/neutral for the rest of the body – bangles (etsy) and a lovely cut out design bag (colletehayman). The adorable sandals (styletread) add a pop of colour (tying back to the bead in the earrings), as do the oversize round sunnies (similar-etsy). And of course, the gorgeous boho staple – a broderie maxi dress in white (dorothyperkins) – so easy to style in so many ways – love it!

It is gonna take all my strength not to buy all of these items immediately, and then organise a lunch date with my girlfriends just so I can wear them! Wish me luck! 😉

Peace, love and light y’all
